Service Contracts

What is this?

A Service Contract or Contract for Services as they are often referred to, is the contract put in place by either your end client or recruitment agency (if one is involved). The contract is between you and the client/agency and will often include Aqua Bubble Limited the registered name of Crystal Umbrella.

This contract is intended not for employment purposes (this is what our Employment Contract does) but to detail the terms and conditions of your temporary assignment which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Role and responsibilities
  • Terms of your assignment (start date, end date or rolling period)
  • Rates of pay
  • Inclusive billable expenses
  • Termination clauses
  • Payment terms (how long it will take monies from the client / agency to reach us)
  • Restrictive covenants (restrictions placed on working for the same client via an alternative agency)

Negotiating and Agreeing the Terms of your Assignment

  1. First and foremost it is vital that your negotiate your assignment particulars with your agency/client before they are agreed. If you sign and agree your contract before fully understanding the terms and conditions, you will have very little room for manoeuvre and negotiation will be virtually impossible after you have signed the contract. You will be tied in for its term.
  2. When the terms have been agreed in principle by you, the client / agency will usually issue a contract to you to, or they will give it directly to us. In this case all service contracts should be sent to for processing.
  3. Within a few hours of receipt we will load your service contract into our Secure Document Exchange, which is the same online electronic signature and agreement system that you will use to sign our Employment Contract. The contract will usually be signed by us (Crystal) and then be forwarded to you to be countersigned, finally the contract will be returned back to the client / agency for their signature.
  4. When all signatures have been collected, a copy of the finalised document will be distributed to all parties and also filed within the Document Library in your My Crystal web portal. Using the Crystal Secure Document Exchange, Service Contracts can be signed by all parties within minutes when signees are available to action the emails received.

Note: While an un-signed service contract will not prevent you from starting to submit Timesheets and Expenses via the My Crystal web portal, they will prevent us from processing any monies received from your agency and could delay onward payments to you, so prompt agreement to this contract is essential.
