The pension is mainly funded as an employer contribution direct from your payroll, which is exempt from Income Tax at 20% (basic rate) and 40% (higher rate taxpayer). It’s also exempt from employers and employees National Insurance deductions.

Crystal’s pension scheme is designed around your contracting needs. Giving you complete flexibility to take payment holidays when you need to, without any penalties. You can also increase and reduce payments as you see fit (any increase in contributions has to be within current legislations).

Should you leave Crystal Umbrella at any stage, you have the freedom to; stop the investments, continue funding the plan as a personal contribution or your new employer can make payments into the scheme.

You also have the option of transferring plans in and out of your Crystal Umbrella pension. However, if you are thinking about doing this, it’s extremely important for you to obtain full advice on pension transfers in order to assess the suitability.

The payment structure of the scheme is unique. A very small personal contribution by the employee, is linked to a large employer contribution. This contribution structure takes the scheme outside the ‘salary sacrifice’ remit, which allows the employee to remain in total control of their payments.
